Historical inspiration
The Tlacopan stage is inspired by the Mexica victory of June 30–July 1, 1520, commonly called La Noche Triste or Noche Victoriosa. The friar is a fictionalized Diego de Landa, associated with the destruction of Maya codices at Maní in 1562. The Conquistador’s War Hound is inspired by Spanish dogs trained for warfare; the game does not claim these dogs had rabies. The rescue ending rewrites that outcome for the game. El Almirante is a Columbus-inspired fantasy antagonist; his grime and scabs are a fictional visual design, not a verified medical diagnosis.
